Triad Restaurant Week

My favorite! This is an awesome time to go out to eat with your hubbie and/or best girl friend! Restaurant week is the one week in the entire year that you can eat at your favorite restaurants in the Piedmont Triad and still be able to afford a sitter for the kiddos! During Triad Restaurant week you can eat a 3 course fixed price menu for $20-$30 at some of my most favorite restaurants like Marisol, Mozelle's, Bernardin's and 1703 to name a few! Please go out to eat not only for your own sanity but also to show support for restaurant week and your own local businesses! Have fun!

Kumon Math and Reading Centers

Have you ever heard of Kumon Learning Centers? I had not either until I met Jaya Soma. She is the owner of the two centers that serve our area. Kumon is a place kids can go to learn math and reading skills above and beyond what is taught in school. This is not a tutoring center which is what some people think. Kids can go to the center after school and work with the Kumon staff to learn extra math and reading skills. I thought I would talk about this since there may be some parents who would be interested in such a place.

In the words of Jaya, "Kumon is an after school supplemental education program in Math and Reading where kids work on getting their foundation strong. In Math we start from counting and go up to calculus. In Reading we start with basic sounds and go up to critic reasoning of passage. We also have the Junior kUMON program which gives a good head start before kindergarten."

You can learn more about them and see where the center closest to you is by visiting their site.
